Purpose:
To propose an optimized forward treatment planning technique for intensity modulated
radiation treatment (IMRT) of prostate cancer. The technique uses past treatment planning
experience as the initial condition for optimization. The resulting fields are limited in
number and have a controlled intensity pattern, thus simplify dose delivery and portal
verification.
