Letter from the Director
Dear Friends of the Kimmel Cancer Center:
Thank you very much for your support for the 4th Kimmel Cancer Center Ball honoring Edward Glickman, the Kimmel Cancer Center’s first Advisory Board Chairman, held on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at the Ritz Carlton Philadelphia.
Ed was overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from friends, family, colleagues, and the greater Jefferson community. He truly appreciated your words of encouragement and recognition as he received this year’s Spirit of Commitment award, presented to an individual to recognize outstanding commitment to supporting the work of the Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson through personal and professional contributions dedicated to finding a cure.
We are grateful for your participation as we honored Ed and his unwavering leadership in helping to build an Advisory Board comprised of Philadelphia’s most respected community leaders. We are encouraged by the future direction of the Kimmel Cancer Center Advisory Board under the new leadership of Joseph Weiss, assuming the role of Chairman effective immediately.
We extend a special thank you to Michelle Fowler, Michelle DiVirgiliis, and their families – all cancer survivors in their own rite - for sharing their heartfelt testimony to triumph over this devastating disease and for the hope their stories bring to others. Through their voices, they carry a confidence that the Kimmel Cancer Center will not only lead the fight – but will finally get even – with cancer.
I would personally like to thank the Chairs for the Jefferson Kimmel Cancer Ball Committee, Jerome Muchnick and Advisory Board Member, Morris Gocial and his wife Sarita, for all of their time and effort in planning such a memorable evening. In addition, I extend my sincere thanks to Mika Harding, Donald Seitz and Dr. Andrew Quong for their outstanding work in executing another successful fundraising event for the Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson.
Once again, please accept my deepest appreciation for your commitment in supporting cancer research at the Kimmel Cancer Center. We look forward to seeing you again next year. Until then we will continue our mission, working tirelessly to unlock the mysteries of cancer’s origin, develop new treatments, and discover cures through research and innovation.
