Bruce M. Boman, M.D., Ph.D., is director of the Division of Medical Genetics and Cancer Prevention in the Department of Medicine at Jefferson Medical College, Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia. He is also a Professor of Medicine at Jefferson Medical College.

Dr. Boman is board certified in medical oncology and internal medicine and is an expert in hereditary cancer diagnosis, counseling and management. At Jefferson, he directs the program for Hereditary Cancer testing at Jefferson's Kimmel Cancer Center.  He is also director of the Familial Colorectal Cancer Tumor Registry, the only one of its kind in the Delaware Valley. Dr. Boman's work is supported by the National Institutes of Health.

Dr. Boman comes to Jefferson from Creighton University and the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, where he was director for Cancer Research and Hereditary Tumors at the Storz Cancer Institute. He was also a staff medical oncologist in the Department of Medicine at Clarkson Hospital. He was laboratory chief, molecular genetics of colorectal cancer in Clarkson's department of pathology and president and director for research at CA*TX, Inc., a privately held biotechnology company seeking new cancer treatments.

Dr. Boman was the founding director of the Creighton University Cancer Center, chairman of oncology and associate professor from 1987-1995. He was assistant professor in several departments, including Gastrointestinal Oncology and Digestive Diseases, Tumor Biology, and the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Texas' M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston from 1984-1987.

Dr. Boman held a National Institutes of Health Research Fellowship from 1982-1984 at the National Cancer Institute in the Biochemical and Molecular Epidemiology Section in the Laboratory of Human Carcinogenesis.

He received a medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School in 1976, a Ph.D. from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., in 1982, and an M.S. in Public Health from the University of Minnesota in 1973.
